How we cut our Marketing Platform Cost by 57% by moving to HubSpot!

 

Who doesn't love savings? No one!

How about 57% savings with additional functionality? Still no one!

Alright, here's a quick recap of why and how this happened:

Being a great Consultant involves keeping a pulse on your Clients evolving needs and the available solutions in the marketplace. I constantly remind myself of my 3 core responsibilities to my Clients; Consult, Solve, Execute!

 

1. Consult

Customers' needs are constantly evolving, therefore Operations need to adapt to stay competitive. A great Consultant serves as their Clients eyes and ears in the marketplace, and is able to bring good solutions to their line of sight. Meeting operational needs with the right solutions could require either improving processes on a current System or making a switch to a new one; the latter happened to be the case with a recent Client. 

Between performing a review of the Platform, having ongoing conversations with the Operators and working on their requests, these were the 3 major pain points I observed:

  1. No usage of several features on the platform (Uh oh! Sounds like inefficiency)
  2. Steep learning curve for Users (required a Platform Admin)
  3. Structural integration drawbacks between the Marketing Platform and the CRM (Impacted Full Cycle Analytics Reporting on the CRM side)
    • e.g. Marketing Attribution - First touch to final outcome
    • e.g. Limited Activities Tracking sync'd with the CRM - Impacting engagement frequency

As a Process efficiency geek, these issues made me cringe 😖 and of course, think!

2. Solve 

Armed with the list of items to resolve and after hours of extensive research, I was able to find an ideal solution that not only eliminated these issues but did so efficiently and provided a good chunk of savings; the HubSpot Marketing Platform🎯! 

The 3 challenges listed above were solved by:

  • A Packaged Plan that included the required features without paying top tier prices
  • A Platform that is easier to use by non-technical users
  • A Platform structure that integrates nicely with the CRM

3. Execute

After Consulting, researching and speaking with a knowledgeable HubSpot Account Executive; Christine Schlieper, came the fun part; Presenting the Pricing & Feature Comparison for both Platforms to my Client. Needless to say, I was as giddy as a kid in a candy store!

Now, who could say no to:

  • A 57% Annual Savings Opportunity with better functionality AND
  • Deriving more value by eliminating 3 Major Pain Points AND

Summary

One way to avoid getting stuck in the “its not that bad” or “we can manage” comfort zone is: Having a Consultant who ensures that your evolving Operational needs are efficiently supported by the right platforms and/or processes (Efficiency = Savings 💰💰💰!)

At the end of the day, these systems are here to support the CLIENTs Business Processes, not the other way around!
